Mahjong Finds a Home at Benbrook Senior Center.

If you’re 50 or older and have been looking for a reason to pull out your Mahjong card, there’s a table waiting for you in Benbrook.

Mahjong players gather regularly at the Benbrook Senior Activity Center, beginning at 9 a.m. There’s no cost to join, no reservation needed, and no need to bring a Mahjong set.

“Just your 2026 card and a smile,” organizer Carrie McQueary with Mahj On shared. Players can simply show up and stay as long as they’d like.

The gatherings are intended for social play rather than lessons. Carrie said teaching may be available on Thursdays, so beginners interested in learning are encouraged to watch for future opportunities.

Mostly, though, it’s an easy excuse to get out of the house, meet a few people, and play a few hands. And at 50, apparently you’re officially old enough to join the fun.
