The Western Hills Lady Cougars are still working to find their stride after a challenging pair of matchups added to an already difficult stretch.
The team entered the week hoping to shake off last season’s lingering losses, but back-to-back setbacks against Grand Prairie and Arlington extended their streak to six straight defeats.
On Tuesday, the Lady Cougars faced the Grand Prairie Gophers and struggled to keep pace, falling 55–4. It marked their first meeting with the Gophers since 2016, when they lost 52–29, but this year’s encounter proved even more challenging.
Friday brought another uphill battle, this time against the Arlington Colts. The Colts controlled the game from the opening tip, defeating Western Hills 51–2. Their previous matchup in 2024 ended 38–20, but the margin widened again.
The consecutive losses dropped the Lady Cougars to 0–4 on the season. They now turn their attention to today’s noon matchup against the Nimitz Lady Vikings, whose defense has been holding opponents to fewer than 30 points per game. It is a difficult challenge, but also a chance for Western Hills to reset, regroup, and begin carving out some momentum.
With the season still young, the Lady Cougars will aim to learn from each outing and find their rhythm as they continue pushing forward.
