The hardwood was alive with energy Tuesday night as the Western Hills Lady Cougars and the Benbrook Lady Bobcats clashed in a thrilling cross-city rivalry matchup.
Both teams, eager to rebound from recent losses, delivered a scrappy and competitive district opener that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
Despite their top player battling under the weather, the Lady Cougars broke a five-year losing streak against the Lady Bobcats, clinching a hard-fought 37-31 victoryโtheir first win in the rivalry since December 2019, ending a 0-10 record.
The Lady Bobcats showed grit and determination, pushing the game to the wire and making their community proud. They’ll look to bounce back tomorrow at home against the Eastern Hills Highlanders at 7:30 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Lady Cougars, riding high on their long-awaited victory, hope to carry the momentum forward as they host the Carter-Riverside Eagles tomorrow at 6 p.m.
