The first meets of the 2026 season are in the books, and Western Hills track and field is already showing progress.
At the opening meet, Mauricio Martinez set the tone with two personal records, throwing 119 feet 1 inch in discus and 43 feet 6 inches in shot put.
Darius Roberson made his long jump debut and reached 17 feet 10 inches, an impressive first outing.
Momentum carried into the Saginaw Relays this past weekend.
On the JV girls’ side,ย Jael Adadziย cut two seconds off her 300-meter hurdles time, while AโQuasia Anderson trimmed two seconds from her 100-meter hurdles.
For the JV boys, Joโzaiyah Russell dropped two seconds in the 400 meters. AโBrien Robinson opened his season with a strong 12.12 in the 100-meter dash.
It is early, but the numbers tell a clear story. The work is paying off.
