Check on Your Neighbors During the Heat.

There’s hot, and then there’s Texas-in-August hot. Benbrook is getting another dose this week, with afternoon temperatures expected to climb above 100 degrees each day.

It’s a good week to check on elderly or homebound family members, friends, and neighbors, especially those living alone. Make sure they have working air conditioning or fans, plenty of water, and a cool place to stay during the hottest part of the day.

And don’t forget yourself. Keep the water nearby, limit unnecessary time outdoors, and take the heat seriously.

Sometimes being a good neighbor is as simple as knocking on a door and asking, “You doing OK in there?”
