The Benbrook City Council met on March 5 for a focused session that highlighted the city’s financial position and ongoing community efforts.
The meeting opened with an invocation by Associate Pastor Bo Bozon of The Church at Benbrook, followed by approval of the February 19 minutes.
Finance Director Rick Overgaard reported general fund revenues at $15.1 million for the fiscal year, led by property and sales taxes. Spending remains on track, with about 32 percent of the budget used. The city reported $38.4 million in available funds, while the Economic Development Corporation brought in more revenue than it spent for January.
Debt service expenses slightly exceeded revenues, and stormwater and capital project funds remain stable.
Residents Andrea Arabie and Cheryl Fortner addressed the council during public comments.
Councilmember Dustin Phillips recognized staff for their work on the annual report. Councilmember Sean Moore shared Lowe’s grant opportunities and encouraged broader community awareness. Councilmember Keith Tiner highlighted time spent reading with students at Rolling Hills Elementary and noted upcoming local events.
The meeting adjourned at 7:17 p.m., offering a brief but clear look at how the city continues to manage its finances and stay connected to the community.
