Benbrook City Council’s May 7 meeting focused on several practical issues that could affect residents, including emergency medical coverage, housing assistance, and city finances.
Council unanimously approved an agreement with American Medical Response Ambulance Service, Inc. (AMR) to help strengthen EMS coverage after staffing shortages impacted Acadian Ambulance Service earlier this year. AMR will provide additional emergency response support from the Benbrook Fire Station, primarily serving several local care facilities.
For residents, the move aims to improve ambulance response reliability across the city.
Council also approved Benbrook’s participation in Tarrant County’s 2026 HOME Program, requesting $50,000 in federal housing assistance funds for low-to-moderate income homeowners. The city’s required $12,500 match was already included in the current budget.
Financial reports presented during the meeting showed the city remains in solid shape heading into spring. Benbrook has collected more than $21.7 million in General Fund revenue so far this fiscal year, with sales tax revenue up 7.6% compared to last year.
Council members also recognized local community events, playoff runs by Benbrook Middle-High School baseball and softball, and National Bicycle Safety Month.
No action was taken following an executive session on property matters related to 9353 Benbrook Boulevard.
Overall, the meeting focused on maintaining city services, supporting residents, and keeping Benbrook financially stable as the community continues to grow.
