BENBROOK, TX — It started with sawdust, paint, and a group of volunteers giving up their time for something bigger than themselves.
Over the course of a single build effort, 50 volunteers came together to construct 23 lemonade stands from start to finish, putting in a combined 260 hours to support local kids.
Along the way, 10 gallons of paint were used, 125 breakfast tacos kept everyone going, and plenty of creativity turned simple materials into something meaningful.
What came out of it was more than just stands.
The work helped prepare 48 young entrepreneurs across Benbrook for Lemonade Day on May 3, with 29 stands now officially registered for business.b
Behind the scenes, 30 participants completed training that covered health department guidelines and basic money skills, while another 320 are currently working through the program.
Lemonade Day Benbrook is designed to teach kids how to start and run a business. But on the ground, it looks more practical and personal. Kids are learning how to plan, make decisions, talk to customers, and take responsibility for something that is theirs.
That growth does not happen in isolation. It takes a community.
Local organizers credited volunteers and partners, including Benbrook Lighted Par 3 & Driving Range, and Magnolia Fence and Patio, for helping organize and precut the stands, making the build possible and setting students up for success from the start.
More information and registration details are available online.
Come May 3, lemonade stands will be set up across Benbrook. And behind each one will be a kid who learned how to build something, with a little help from a community that showed up.
