Benbrook Baseball Brings Home Major District Honors After Standout Season.

The postseason honors keep piling up for Benbrook High School baseball after a season that saw the Bobcats make noise across District 8-4A and beyond.

Headlining the awards list was Sebastian “Chevy” Martinez, who earned District 8-4A MVP honors after putting together one of the most complete seasons in the area. Martinez finished with a .404 batting average, a .534 on-base percentage, 36 hits, and 83 strikeouts on the mound with a microscopic .652 ERA across 53.2 innings pitched.

Ethan Tucker was named District 8-4A Offensive Player of the Year after a dominant season at the plate. Tucker hit .429 with a staggering 1.177 OPS, four home runs, 42 RBIs, 33 hits, and a .688 slugging percentage.

The Bobcats also landed several players on the district’s First Team All-District selections.

Hudson Stockton earned First Team honors at designated hitter after batting .372 with 42 RBIs and 10 doubles. Giulianno Martinez was recognized as a catcher with a .411 on-base percentage while throwing out 10 runners attempting to steal.

In the infield, Brennan Barton earned First Team recognition after hitting .375 with a .414 on-base percentage and recording 44 putouts defensively.

On the mound, Daniel Stiefvater and Trentin Hornbeck anchored the pitching staff all season. Stiefvater posted a 2.26 ERA with 61 strikeouts and a 7-3 record, while Hornbeck recorded a 1.086 ERA and converted every save opportunity he was given.

Outfielders Evan Smith and Tanner Madara also secured First Team honors. Smith finished with 21 hits, a .455 on-base percentage, and 15 stolen bases, while Madara added a .316 batting average, two home runs, and 34 runs scored.

Second Team All-District selections included Jack Mahaney, Cameron Crampton, Austin Cross, Jakim Velasquez, and Cash Bergen.

Pierce Battle, Trevor Whaling, and Kody Kuhn received Honorable Mention recognition.

The honors cap off another memorable year for Benbrook baseball, one filled with big moments, deep pitching performances, timely hitting, and a team that continued giving the community reasons to pack the stands this spring.
