What started as an ordinary evening in Ventana quickly turned into a string of unexpected events when lights began flickering across Cypress Willow, Trail Ridge, and Pope Creek. For some, it was a quick blip. For others, the power went completely out.
Just as dinner was finishing up in air fryers, a loud crack of thunder signaled bigger trouble. Across the way on Lake Jackson, residents noticed smoke and the unmistakable sound of sirens. A home had been struck by lightning and caught fire. Multiple fire trucks responded while the neighborhood watched, concerned and unsure of what would happen next.
ONCOR crews arrived shortly after to assess and restore power. But for several homes, the damage had already been done. Fried GCFI outlets, disrupted appliances, and plenty of shaken nerves were left behind.
It was a wild reminder that Texas storms don’t play around. Neighbors helped one another, shared updates, and even made a dash to the hardware store for emergency repairs. A strong community response brought a little comfort in the middle of the chaos.
