As Benbrook’s new Castle and Robot parks continue taking shape, the City of Benbrook is giving residents a chance to take home a small piece of the original Castle Park.
The city is offering 175 commemorative wood blocks, each measuring 1½” x 3½” x 3½” and sealed with varnish, made from the beloved wooden playground. Residents who helped build Castle Park will receive first priority, with any remaining pieces available on a first come, first served basis.
Meanwhile, construction is moving ahead, with swings and climbing features being installed this week. The new, modern versions of Castle and Robot parks are expected to open by September 2026.
The city also shared that the original Castle Park bricks have been carefully preserved and will be incorporated into the new park, ensuring a piece of its history lives on for future generations.
The wood memorabilia will be available for pickup during the park’s ribbon-cutting ceremony this fall. The ceremony date will be announced later.
