Resident Warns Neighbors to Verify Appliance Repair Listings.

A Benbrook resident is urging neighbors to double-check online business listings after a recent refrigerator repair call led to confusion over which company had been contacted.

The resident said they intended to contact a local business, Benbrook Appliance Repair, owned by Chris, which they had used before.

Instead, they called another Google listing using the same business name. A technician identifying himself as A.J. visited the home on July 24, charged a $170 service fee, requested payment in cash or by check, and quoted $483 for the full repair.

According to the resident, follow-up calls and messages went unanswered after the repair was approved. The resident later contacted Chris, who said the technician and listing were not affiliated with his company and that other customers had reported similar confusion.

A consumer complaint has since been filed with the Texas Attorney General requesting a review of the matter. The complaint has not been independently verified, and no determination has been announced.

The resident shared the experience as a reminder to confirm a companyโ€™s owner, phone number, reviews, payment instructions, and licensing before allowing a technician into the home.

Let this be a reminder to and for us all that a familiar name in an online search may not always connect customers with the business they intended to call.
