What started as a typical afternoon in Benbrook quickly turned into a weather scare for some residents.
A fast-moving storm swept through the area with little warning, bringing strong winds, dark skies, and conditions that briefly had some residents wondering if a tornado might be developing.
One South Benbrook resident, looking west-southwest from Trammell Drive toward Winscott Road and Vernon Castle Avenue, described seeing a blue-green sky just before the strongest winds arrived.
“The storm hit fast and hard,” the resident said, noting that conditions changed so quickly that many people had little time to react.
The weather event also left some residents without electricity. As of the report, approximately 170 customers were experiencing power outages, with restoration estimated around 9 p.m.
While the storm moved through quickly, it served as a reminder of how rapidly North Texas weather can change, especially as summer storm season settles in across the region.
