After days of wet weather across North Texas, Benbrook’s Foot Works Performing Arts Center announced that its Mayfest performance scheduled for Thursday has been canceled due to rain, standing water, and muddy stage conditions.
For many dancers, the cancellation came after weeks of rehearsals and preparation leading up to the outdoor event.
“Our dancers have worked so hard, and we were so excited to perform,” the studio shared in its announcement, calling the decision especially disappointing while thanking families for their support and understanding.
The studio also announced there will be no regular classes on Thursday evening.
Still, there is a silver lining for students and families already looking ahead. Recital season is right around the corner, and the performances these dancers have been preparing for will not have to wait much longer.
