Less than 24 hours after a dominant home win, the Benbrook Bobcats were back on the road, stepping into cold, windy, and misty conditions for a non-district matchup against the Iowa Park Hawks.
It was the kind of game that tests more than just talent.
Both teams struggled to find rhythm early, but the Hawks broke through in the third inning, scoring four runs to take control. Two more runs in the fifth stretched the lead to 6-0 and put the Bobcats in a tough spot.
Still, the Bobcats did not fold.
In the seventh inning, the offense came to life. A mix of hits and patient at-bats sparked a late rally, trimming the deficit and bringing energy back into the dugout. The Bobcats finished with seven hits and seven walks, showing discipline even while playing from behind.
Ethan Tucker led the way with two hits and two RBIs, while Tanner Madara also added two hits. On the mound, Chevy Martinez worked through five innings, allowing six runs with only one earned while striking out five.
The comeback effort fell just short, though, in a 6-4 loss, but the fight was clear.
The Bobcats move to 13-8-1 overall and remain undefeated in district play at 6-0, holding first place as they turn their focus back to district games that will shape their postseason path.
