Lady Bobcats Rally Late for Win Over Rio Vista.

Tuesday night felt like it might slip away early for the Lady Bobcats.

Rio Vista jumped out fast, taking a 2-1 lead in the first inning and stretching it to 6-1 by the end of the second. The Lady Eagles stayed aggressive at the plate, sending balls deep into the outfield and putting steady pressure on Benbrook’s defense.

Natalya Muzquiz steps up to the plate in Tuesday evening’s matchup between the Bobcats and Eagles.

Natalya Muzquiz started in the circle and worked through five innings, striking out five. Madison Canada came on in relief and helped settle things down, allowing just one run in the sixth and retiring the side in order in the seventh to give Benbrook a chance.

That chance came late.

In the bottom of the sixth, Maelee Lindley sparked the comeback. She reached base, stole her way into scoring position, and crossed the plate on a Canada double. Kaylee Boswell followed with a triple that cut the deficit to 12 to 10.

Down to their final at-bats in the seventh, the Lady Bobcats refused to fold. Mya Vasquez doubled. Muzquiz drove her in. Lindley added another run-scoring hit, tieing the game at 12-12. A fielder’s choice won the game for the Lady Bobcats.

What began as a six-run deficit turned into a statement about grit. The Lady Bobcats now sit at 3-3 and head into tournament play with momentum on their side.

The Lady Bobcats next face Boyd at 9 a.m. and Brock at 4 p.m. as they look to build on a comeback that showed exactly who they are when the game is on the line.
