When the Day Feels a Little Heavy.

Some days just feel heavier than others.

Tuesday was one of them. North Texas watched the Ross Fire burn far too close to home, with firefighters battling the flames in triple-digit heat. Then came the news of Dolly Parton’s passing, a loss felt by generations who knew her music, humor, and kindness.

On days like that, it helps to remember how much good is still around us.

Neighbors are still helping neighbors. Friends are still making the call. Kids are still laughing. And another Benbrook sunset is still waiting at the end of the day.

So check on someone. Say something kind. Pray for the firefighters and families in harm’s way. Maybe turn up a little Dolly, too.

We cannot control everything a day brings. But we can choose what kind of neighbor we’ll be through it.

And sometimes, the good we need is often closer than we think.
