The afternoon school pickup rush hit an unexpected slowdown today after a trailer reportedly came loose from a truck on Jerry Dunn Parkway.
The incident happened shortly after 3 p.m. between Rolling Hills and Westpark Elementary, right as traffic was building for school dismissal. According to those on scene, the detached trailer struck several vehicles, creating a backup in one of the busiest parts of the afternoon
Early reports suggest injuries are minor, if any, though authorities are still working through the scene.
Police are directing traffic, gathering reports, and waiting for a tow truck to clear the area. Drivers in the area are being encouraged to avoid Jerry Dunn Parkway for now and use alternate routes if possible.
With schools nearby and traffic already heavy at that hour, delays are expected to continue until the roadway is cleared.
