North Texas school officials are assessing the fallout from a federal funding freeze ordered by President Donald Trump, which began Tuesday, January 28.
The pause on grants and loan programs has sparked uncertainty among districts partially reliant on federal funding.
Spokespeople for the Fort Worth, Arlington, and Hurst-Euless-Bedford school districts expressed uncertainty about how the freeze might impact their programs. According to Chalkbeat, federal funding sources like Title I, aiding low-income districts, and special education grants reportedly remain unaffected.
However, early learning programs like Head Start initially reported funding access issues. By Tuesday afternoon, the National Head Start Association clarified that these programs were exempt from the freeze and funding had been restored.
