Questions Raised Over Classroom Cameras in FWISD.

Questions are being raised about cameras in Fort Worth ISD classrooms after district staff reported that Elevate teachers are being required to set them up beginning this week.

If cameras are being introduced into general education classrooms, families and staff deserve clear answers from FWISD about how they will be used.

That includes which classrooms are affected, when cameras will be on, whether students can be seen or heard, who can view recordings, and how long footage will be stored.

There are also larger questions about purpose and consent. Are the cameras intended to monitor instruction, student behavior, teachers, or something else? Will parents be asked for permission, and what happens if a parent or teacher does not consent?

Before cameras become part of the classroom, those details should be clear to the people on both sides of the lens.
