In a season of heated local debates over development and floodplain concerns, Benbrook City Council candidate Cameron Potter is taking a balanced stance—one rooted in stewardship rather than sweeping change.
Potter describes Benbrook as a strong, close-knit city with much to be proud of: safe neighborhoods, dedicated first responders, and a long-standing sense of community.
While he acknowledges there’s room for improvement, he believes the city doesn’t need saving—it needs steady leadership that protects what’s working and thoughtfully improves what isn’t.
Responding to residents’ frustrations about recent floodplain developments, Potter emphasized the importance of accountability and responsible planning. He points out that for decades, the Benbrook City Council has consistently rejected proposals that would harm Benbrook’s flood-prone areas and says he intends to continue that commitment if elected.
Potter’s message is simple: progress doesn’t require starting over. Instead, he advocates for collaboration, practical problem-solving, and maintaining a clear focus on the community’s shared priorities—protecting green spaces, ensuring public safety, and using tax dollars wisely.
