Looking for a good scare this October? The Benbrook Public Library is inviting readers to explore the horror genre as part of its 2026 NoveList Genre Challenge, Find What You Like.
This month’s challenge is simple: Read any horror book, pick up a bookmark kit, complete the review card, and turn it in for a chance to win a genre-themed prize.
Whether you prefer ghost stories, psychological thrillers, or something that keeps you up at night, there’s plenty to choose from. The library is also highlighting several suggested titles for readers looking for a place to start.
The challenge is part of the library’s yearlong effort to encourage readers to try different genres and discover new favorites.
Benbrook Public Library is located at 1065 Mercedes Street. For more information, visit benbrooklibrary.org, browse the library’s event calendar, or call 817-249-6632.
