Parents across Fort Worth ISD have a new task this school year, thanks to Senate Bill 12 passed during the 89th Texas Legislative Session.
The law now requires parents to provide written consent each year for their children to join any school-sponsored clubs or organizations and to access counseling services.
Without a signed consent form on file, students will not be permitted to participate in club activities, whether curricular or extracurricular, and they will not be able to receive mental health services offered through the district.
FWISD families can review and complete the required forms online through the Parent Portal at fwisd.org/parentportal.
This change affects every enrolled student, so parents are encouraged to complete the process as soon as possible to ensure their children can take part in the full range of opportunities this school year.
