A familiar face from Benbrook recently stepped onto one of Texas’s biggest stages.
Carlyle Hayes, a longtime Benbrook resident and World War II veteran, was honored at a Texas Rangers game this week, where he had the opportunity to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
Hayes was one of three veterans invited by American Airlines as part of the company’s 100th anniversary celebration. The special recognition highlighted a century of service and honored those whose lives have been marked by extraordinary service and sacrifice.

Dressed in a custom Rangers jersey bearing his name and the number 100, Hayes represented not only his generation of veterans, but also the community that proudly calls him one of its own.
The milestone comes just a few months before another remarkable one. Hayes is set to celebrate his 101st birthday this September.
From Benbrook to Globe Life Field, it was a memorable night and a well-deserved moment in the spotlight for a local veteran whose story continues to inspire.
Congratulations, Carlyle Hayes. Benbrook is proud of you.
