FWISD Reassigns Western Hills Principal Finalist Following Social Media Review.

Just one day after Fort Worth ISD announced Shayma Alzubi as the next principal of Western Hills High School, the district released a new statement saying the appointment is now under review.

In an official statement shared Tuesday by Dr. Louis Kushner, chief of staff for Fort Worth Independent School District, the district said it became aware of “multiple social media posts from the past” tied to a finalist for a principal position.

According to the statement, district leaders reviewed the posts and determined they “may not align with the district’s social media policy and expectations for staff.” FWISD said the candidate would be reassigned pending the outcome of an investigation and added the district would not comment further while the investigation remains open.

The district also emphasized that FWISD “will not inject personal political perspectives into classrooms” and stated it remains committed to providing “a high quality education for all students.”

The sudden shift comes after many Western Hills families had just begun reacting to Monday’s announcement naming Alzubi as the campus’s next principal.

As of Tuesday afternoon, FWISD had not released additional details regarding the investigation or the future leadership plans for Western Hills High School.
