Farrington Field Set for Major Revival After Special Funding Approved.

Farrington Field, Fort Worth’s historic 1939 stadium, is on track for a $55 million upgrade thanks to a proposed tax increment financing (TIF) district targeting the Near West Side.

The plan would channel future tax growth from the surrounding area into infrastructure improvements, including stormwater fixes, road repairs, and public safety enhancements, as well as long-overdue renovations at Farrington Field.

Fort Worth ISD has pledged up to $25 million over 20 years and will retain ownership of the stadium. If other local entities join in, the fund could reach nearly $261 million over the course of two decades. Without this funding, critical repairs, such as ADA compliance, elevator maintenance, and safety updates, would remain out of reach.

Pending approval from the City Council and the school board, construction could begin later this year, giving the historic stadium a renewed purpose and preserving its legacy for future generations.
