The Western Hills Cougars rang in the new year with a strong start, shutting out Sunnyvale 2-0 on Friday for their first win of the season.
The victory, coming just a day after a 1-1 tie with Axle, brought their early-season record to 1-0-1.
The Cougars didn’t rest for long, taking on Mineral Wells on January 4, but the result didn’t go their way this time. A 2-1 loss handed the Cougars their first season defeat.
The Cougars are slated to face the Burkburnett Bulldogs tomorrow at 2:15 p.m. However, Fort Worth ISD has issued a winter weather advisory, which could delay or cancel the matchup.
