After a thrilling win over Carter-Riverside last Thursday, the Western Hills Cougars were grounded on Friday, suffering a 51-38 loss to the Bowie Jackrabbits.
While the loss stings, especially after the holiday season, the Cougars have reason to stay optimistic. Facing a Bowie team ranked 329th in the state, compared to the Cougars’ 1289th ranking, was always going to be a tough challenge. The Jackrabbits showed why they’re considered a solid squad, outmatching the Cougars in nearly every aspect of the game.
The Cougars have hit a rough patch, losing eight of their last ten games, contributing to their current 4-12 record. Meanwhile, the Jackrabbits continue to roll, having won ten of their last 12 games, improving their record to 13-5.
Both teams will face the Burkburnett Bulldogs next—the Cougars tip-off at 3:30 p.m. today, followed by the Jackrabbits at 6 p.m. The Cougars will then gear up to face the Gold-Burg Bears on Saturday, December 28, as they aim to bounce back and regain their winning form.
