Western Hills made the long trip to Big Spring Friday night, returning home with a tough 20-14 loss to the Pecos Eagles, but Head Coach Blake Moilan saw plenty of value beyond the final score.
On the way west, the Cougars stopped at Abilene Christian University, where players, managers, coaches and trainers ate at the ACU cafeteria, toured the campus and held a short walk-through before continuing to Big Spring.
For many players, it was their first chance to experience a college campus and get a glimpse of what college life could look like.
“It was a long trip, a great experience, and we saw definite growth in our Cougar Team,” Moilan said.
Moilan thanked FWISD Athletics for providing the charter bus, the Cougar Pride Alliance for the pregame meal at ACU and B&B for helping cover the team’s postgame food.
The Cougars now turn their attention to their next opponent, the North Side Steers.
