Community Rallies Around Officer After Devastating Medical Emergency.

What started as a normal overnight shift quickly turned into a life-changing emergency for Burleson Police Officer Cameron Wood and his family.

On the night of May 16, Officer Wood suddenly began slurring his words while on duty, showing signs of a serious medical issue. He was rushed to the hospital, where doctors discovered he had suffered two strokes, one on each side of his brain, along with multiple infections affecting his brain and brain stem.

Doctors later determined the infection likely stemmed from his heart, leading to a diagnosis of endocarditis. According to family and supporters, Cameron is also battling bleeding in the brain and a blocked vessel that has caused permanent tissue damage and significant cognitive challenges.

Since that night, the husband and father of three has lost the ability to walk and talk and now faces an extended recovery involving intensive hospital care, IV antibiotics, and rehabilitation.

His wife, Rebecca, has remained by his side while caring for their three young boys: Bryson, 8, Jace, 4, and Harrison, who is nearly 1 year old.

Friends and fellow first responders say the Wood family has always poured themselves into serving others, both in law enforcement and throughout the community. Now, many across North Texas are stepping in to support them during one of the hardest seasons of their lives.

Supporters say donations will help cover mounting medical bills, household expenses, and provide stability for the family as Cameron continues treatment and recovery.

For many in the community, the story has become a reminder of how quickly life can change and how deeply neighbors can rally around one another when it does.
