City of Benbrook to Conduct Mosquito Spraying in Response to West Nile Virus Detection.

BENBROOK, TX – The City of Benbrook will conduct targeted mosquito spraying on Wednesday night, September 11, after confirming a positive test for West Nile Virus in a local mosquito sample. The spraying will cover a half-mile radius surrounding the 8400 block of Arroyo Lane, an area generally bordered by Team Ranch Road to the north, the I-20 service road to the south, Loop 820 to the west, and Benbrook Blvd to the east.

Spraying Details: City crews will begin spraying at approximately 11:00 PM and will conclude by 6:00 AM on Thursday morning, September 12, weather permitting. It is important to note that the spraying will not extend beyond Benbrook’s city limits.

The mosquito control pesticide being used is safe for both people and pets. However, residents are encouraged to limit exposure by remaining indoors during the spraying if possible.

The spraying follows a routine sample collection by Tarrant County Public Health, where West Nile Virus was detected in one of the mosquito traps. This effort is part of the city’s ongoing measures to protect public health during mosquito season.

The City of Benbrook reminds residents to take personal precautions to safeguard against West Nile Virus:

  • Routinely dump any standing water on your property.
  • Apply mosquito repellent.
  • Dress appropriately, especially during peak mosquito activity from dusk to dawn.

For more information on the scheduled spraying or ways to protect yourself from mosquito-borne illnesses, contact Bennett Howell at 817-249-6063 or email bhowell@benbrook-tx.gov.

Stay safe and help the city combat the spread of mosquito-related diseases!
