Benbrook Residents Rattled by Power Outage, Car Fire, and Mystery Sirens.

BENBROOK, TX — Saturday was anything but quiet in Benbrook as residents found themselves dealing with power outages, a blazing car fire, and some baffling emergency sirens—all in the span of a few chaotic hours.

It started when a car crashed into an electrical pole on Winscott Road, setting the vehicle’s front end ablaze and plunging parts of the city into darkness. As electric crews worked to restore power, which was back on by just before 10 p.m., the real head-scratcher came at 1 p.m. sharp when emergency sirens began wailing without explanation.

Social media lit up with wild theories. Some thought the sirens were tied to the car fire, others blamed grass fires near Granbury, and a few joked that it was a signal that the Cowboys were already eliminated from the playoffs. One resident hilariously suggested it might have been a warning about their jogging pace.

The real reason behind the sirens remains a mystery. Typically, the city tests them on the first Wednesday of each month, but even local authorities seemed puzzled this time around. While most agree it was likely a malfunction—especially since this isn’t the first time this has happened—residents are still waiting for an official explanation.

For now, Benbrook can only stay tuned as this story develops.
