August kept the Benbrook Fire Department busy, with crews responding to 442 calls during the month.
Of those, 284 were EMS calls, 96 were fire calls and 62 involved dual responses. The department says 2026 is shaping up to be one of its busiest years on record.
With temperatures and heat indexes still topping 100 degrees, firefighters are reminding residents to stay hydrated and remain careful about activities that could accidentally spark a fire.
