A Benbrook family is once again turning their grief into something life-giving, inviting the community to help bring joy to children spending Christmas in the emergency room at Cook Children’s.
Gideon’s Christmas Wish Toy Drive, created in memory of young Gideon, is now underway through December 20 and aims to deliver smiles, comfort, and a bit of holiday magic to kids who will walk through the ER doors on Christmas Day.

The goal is simple and heartfelt. While many families wake up to presents under the tree, some children wake up in a hospital bed. The toy drive makes sure those young patients still feel seen and cared for during one of the toughest times to be away from home.
Benbrook residents can help by donating new, unwrapped toys for children of all ages. Board games, art supplies, dolls, action figures, sensory toys, and similar items are all welcomed. Every gift collected will go straight into the hands of a child who needs encouragement the moment they arrive in the ER on December 25.
Donations are being accepted now through December 20 at the Cook Children’s Emergency Department. More details are available by scanning the QR code in the flyer or visiting the designated donation page.
If you’re out hunting for Black Friday bargains, consider picking up an extra toy or two. A small gift from our community can be a big source of hope for a family spending Christmas in a hospital room.
