Benbrook Residents: Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Set for June 13.

That shelf in the garage filled with old paint cans, used batteries, burnt-out light bulbs, and leftover chemicals finally has a destination.

The City of Benbrook is hosting its annual Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event on Saturday, June 13, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Dutch Branch Park, located behind the Benbrook Par 3 and the Benbrook YMCA. The event is free for Benbrook residents and will continue until the collection trailer reaches capacity.

The event provides a safe and responsible way to dispose of household items that should not be thrown in the trash, including batteries, fluorescent bulbs, paint, stains, motor oil, pesticides, antifreeze, cleaning chemicals, and other hazardous materials.

Residents should bring proof of Benbrook residency and follow posted signs for event entry.

Not everything can be accepted. Items such as appliances, tires, propane cylinders, fireworks, ammunition, brush, bulk waste, and building materials will not be collected during the event.

For many homeowners, it’s an opportunity to clear out clutter while helping keep potentially harmful materials out of landfills, storm drains, and neighborhood trash bins.

For a complete list of accepted and prohibited items, visit the City of Benbrook’s Household Hazardous Waste page. Questions about the event can be directed to 817-249-6008.

If you’ve been meaning to clean out that garage corner or storage shelf, this Saturday may be the perfect time to do it.
