A Fort Worth nonprofit is giving one local high school student the chance to spend the summer learning what it really takes to serve a community from the ground up.
Fort Worth Community Collaborative is now accepting applications for its 10-week summer internship program, a hands-on opportunity designed for students heading into their senior year of high school who want to build leadership skills while making a difference close to home.
Executive Director Dorie Kirk said the internship offers students a behind-the-scenes look at how a grassroots nonprofit operates, including opportunities to shadow leadership, connect with residents, and help support community-focused projects throughout the summer.
The internship begins June 1 and runs through the organization’s annual Back 2 School Bash on Aug. 8. Students selected for the program will commit roughly 12 hours per week and should have reliable transportation.
Kirk described the experience as ideal for students looking for something meaningful to invest in this summer beyond a typical job or résumé builder.
For many teens, summer is a break from routine. For one student, it could become the start of discovering how to lead, serve, and connect with the community in a deeper way.
Students and families interested in applying can register at the FWCC Summer Internship Application.
