New Grass Fire Burning in Parker County.

Fire crews are battling a new grass fire southeast of Dennis in Parker County Tuesday afternoon as elevated fire conditions continue across North Texas.

As of about 2:15 p.m., the Red Bank Fire along Red Bank Road was estimated at five acres and 0% contained, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service. Homes, vehicles and other structures could be seen near the fire from aerial coverage by CBS News Texas.

The new fire comes one day after another fire in the Dennis area threatened nearby property. One resident described flames reaching the fence line around their home and jumping the driveway as firefighters from several departments responded. The cause of Monday’s fire has not been officially confirmed.

Gusty winds, low humidity and dry vegetation are creating conditions Tuesday that can allow grass fires to spread quickly across parts of Central and North Texas.

Residents near the Red Bank Road fire should remain alert and follow instructions from local emergency officials.
