Benbrook Firefighters Make Quick Work of Vehicle Fire.

โ€ข

A vehicle fire can go from small to dangerous in moments, which is why Benbrook firefighters are using a Friday evening response to remind drivers what to do if it happens to them.

The Benbrook Fire Department reported quickly extinguishing a vehicle fire Friday before it could spread further.

Firefighters advise drivers who notice their vehicle catching fire to pull over safely, turn off the engine, and get everyone out. Once outside, stay away from the vehicle, call 911, and wait for firefighters to arrive.

And while the instinct may be to check under the hood or grab something left inside, the department says not to do either. Opening the hood can expose the fire to more oxygen, and belongings are not worth risking another trip into or near a burning vehicle.

The safest move is simple: get out, stay out, and let firefighters handle the rest.
