BENBROOK, TX — Four days in Lubbock came down to a single putt and one final swing.
The Benbrook Lady Bobcats golf team battled through the UIL Region 1-4A tournament and finished tied for third, forcing a playoff for the final spot at the state tournament.
On the 18th green, both Canyon and Benbrook drained clutch six-foot putts to extend the fight, setting up a sudden playoff with everything on the line.
Senior Avery Glanzer, the defending state champion, delivered under pressure to keep Benbrook alive. From there, the team regrouped, taking a moment together before heading back out for the playoff.

In the end, it came down to the smallest margin. Benbrook fell one stroke short.
The finish capped a strong showing across the board. The Lady Bobcats posted a team score of 647, matching Canyon and securing a tie for third place in a tightly packed field.
Individually, Avery Glanzer led the way with a two-day total of 148 (+2), finishing third overall. Campbell Glanzer followed with a 151 (+1), placing eighth. Jessica Anzaldua carded a 167 (+11), while Madison Willson finished at 181 (+16), and Bay Bradshaw rounded out the lineup with a 215 (+33).
The group also set a program mark with a 318 team score on Day 2, a sign of how well they played when it mattered most.
It is a result that stings in the moment, especially given how close you are to advancing. But it also tells the story of a team that competed to the very end, stayed composed under pressure, and left everything on the course.
Sometimes the difference is one shot. This time it was.
