What would make a great community gathering spot even better? According to Benbrook residents, the answer is simple: more ways to connect.
A team member from Tacos & Avocados recently asked the community for ideas on activities and events they’d like to see at the restaurant and its backyard venue. The response was immediate and wide-ranging, offering a glimpse into the kinds of experiences residents are looking for close to home.
Among the most popular suggestions were music bingo, themed trivia nights, open mic events, karaoke, cornhole tournaments, paint nights, Mahjong gatherings, and Lotería nights.
Several residents also expressed interest in sports watch parties for Benbrook High School sports road games, World Cup soccer matches, and Dallas-area professional sports teams.
Others envisioned the backyard becoming a hub for community connection through singles mixers, business networking events, family movie nights, board game meetups, and even classic car shows.
Practical ideas surfaced as well. Some residents suggested adding more shade to the outdoor space during the Texas summer, extending operating hours beyond 9 p.m., and offering greater flexibility for guests who want to enjoy food from either Tacos & Avocados or Jake’s while seated in the backyard area.
What stood out most was the enthusiasm. Benbrook residents weren’t just offering suggestions. They were imagining ways to turn a local restaurant into a gathering place where neighbors can meet, relax, and build community.
If the conversation is any indication, Benbrook is ready for more than just tacos and burgers. It’s ready for experiences that bring people together.
