For the Western Hills Lady Cougars, this soccer season was about more than wins and losses. It was about progress.
The Lady Cougars secured back-to-back playoff appearances for the first time in a decade, building on a strong district run and carrying a four-game winning streak into Thursday night’s Bi-District matchup.
Across the field at Scarborough–Handley Field stood Lake Worth Lady Bullfrogs yesterday, though, a disciplined and tested team that finished second in its district with an 11-9-2 record.
What followed felt like playoff soccer at its best. The match moved back and forth with both teams trading goals and momentum. Each possession carried weight, and both sidelines stayed engaged from start to finish.
But in the end, Lady Bullfrogs found just enough to pull ahead, earning a 3-2 win and advancing as Bi-District champions.
The Lady Cougars close the year 11-15 overall and 11-3 in district, finishing second and marking one of the program’s most meaningful seasons in recent memory.
For the seniors, it is the end of a chapter defined by resilience and growth. For those returning, it sets a clear path forward, with a raised standard and the expectation now to build on it.
