Benbrook Students Bring Home First Place at District UIL Meet.

Benbrook Middle High School’s academic team added another trophy to the case Saturday, earning a first-place overall finish at this year’s district UIL academic meet.

Students across sixth, seventh, and eighth grades competed in a wide range of events that tested math, writing, reading, and problem-solving skills.

Several students stood out with top finishes across multiple categories. Carter Wickstrom claimed first place in seventh-grade mathematics, while Noah Palmer finished first in eighth-grade number sense. Joaquin Koppes took first in eighth-grade calculator applications and also shared first place in eighth-grade listening skills with CJ Pollak and Paige Ball.

Strong performances continued in writing and language events. Hazel Pollak earned first place in sixth-grade ready writing. Journey Jackson won first place in editorial writing for sixth grade. CJ Pollak captured first place in eighth-grade editorial writing, while Annabelle Gentry secured first place in seventh-grade dictionary skills.

Other first-place finishes included Kaleb Kirk in eighth-grade spelling and additional top placements across mathematics, maps, charts, and graphs, calculator applications, and listening skills.

Throughout the competition, many Bobcat students placed in the top ranks, helping secure the overall district title and highlighting the depth of Benbrook’s academic programs.

The first-place finish reflects the work of students, teachers, and coaches who continue to build a strong academic culture at Benbrook Middle High School, where competition is just as fierce in the classroom as on the field.
