30th Annual FWISD Gospel Fest: A Night of Joyful Harmony and Culture.

Fort Worth ISD’s 30th Annual Gospel Fest brought down the house last night at Great Commission Baptist Church. High school choirs and special guests delivered an unforgettable evening of music and unity.

The event showcased the district’s diverse talents, offering students a unique platform to connect through gospel music. Dr. Ruben Alcala, FWISD Vocal and Elementary Music Coordinator, emphasized the significance of the event:
“It’s an opportunity for students to be exposed to music they may not typically experience in their classroom and to come together across the district in a worship setting.”

Students shared their excitement about participating:

  • Said Guerrero, Arlington Heights High School: “We’re all very multi-faceted, so it’s very cool to come together.”
  • Derrius Williams, Eastern Hills High School: “I’m a church kid, so I grew up in church and know most about gospel.”
  • Denise Smith, YWLA: “I’ve been singing since I was really, really little. Any chance to sing is amazing.”

Dr. Alcala encouraged the community to experience Gospel Fest, saying, “Everyone should come because it’s a chance to celebrate our students and the rich cultures here in Fort Worth.”
