When Small Things Like Lights and Limbs Add Up.

Living in Benbrook comes with a lot to love, but a recent neighborhood conversation shows how everyday details can still spark real concerns.

In Timber Creek, residents have noticed tennis court lights staying on late into the night, even when courts appear empty. For some, it feels like unnecessary energy use.

Others point out the lights are on timers and may need adjustment after daylight saving time. A quick call to the city has helped in the past, suggesting the issue may be more technical than intentional.

Another concern hits closer to street level. Overhanging tree limbs along neighborhood roads and driveways are causing problems for drivers, street sweepers, and potentially emergency vehicles. Scraping roofs, blocked equipment, and safety risks are all part of the worry.

Residents note that Benbrook does have ordinances covering limbs hanging over streets and sidewalks, and that Code Compliance enforces them. Limbs that hang only over private driveways fall into a gray area, leaving neighbors to work it out directly or trim back to the property line themselves.

Several residents were encouraged to take concerns straight to the city rather than social media.

City of Benbrook staff can investigate lighting timers, and Code Compliance can address reported limb violations. City Council member Sean Moore was also mentioned as a helpful point of contact, mainly by email at place5@benbrook-tx.gov.

Most issues have a process, but they only move forward when residents speak up through the proper channels. Whether it is bright lights after midnight or low branches over the road, a quick report can help keep Benbrook safe, efficient, and comfortable for everyone.
