At Westpark Elementary, race day is about more than crossing a finish line.
This week, students took part in the Cowtown C.A.L.F. tennis shoe fitting, an initiative that ensures young runners have properly fitted, brand-new shoes before the Cowtown 5K. For many of the kids, it was their first time lacing up shoes selected just for them.
The result was easy to see. Big smiles. A little extra bounce in their step. A growing sense of confidence as they prepare to hit the pavement.
Programs like this do more than outfit students for a race. They help children feel comfortable, supported, and ready to participate alongside their peers. That confidence often carries well beyond the starting line.
As race day approaches, Westpark students will arrive prepared and proud, knowing their community helped set them up for success.
