A big milestone was reached this week for Western Hills High School senior Joshua Oliver.
The student athlete has committed to play football at Texas Wesleyan University, turning years of work on the field and in the classroom into an opportunity to continue both at the college level.
Oliver graduates ranked No. 35 in his class and carries a strong 3.86 cumulative GPA. His academic performance helped earn more than $20,000 in academic scholarships. In addition to his athletic opportunity, Oliver will receive just over $50,000 in total scholarship support as he begins the next chapter of his education.
At Texas Wesleyan, Oliver plans to study business while continuing his football career.
Moments like this highlight the balance of academics and athletics that many local students work toward throughout their high school years. For the Western Hills community, it is another proud step for a student whose hard work has opened the door to new opportunities.
