Volunteers Needed to Help Keep Robot Park Photo Day Running Smoothly.

As Benbrook prepares for one last community photo with the beloved robot slide at Dutch Branch Park, organizers are seeking a small team of friendly volunteers to help keep things safe, simple, and welcoming.

The photo event takes place on Sunday, February 1, with volunteers asked to arrive at 1:45 PM. Guests will begin arriving around 2:00 PM, and the community photo is scheduled promptly for 2:30 PM, giving families time to park, gather, and settle in without feeling rushed.

As part of the city-approved permit, the robot structure will be temporarily blocked off starting around 1:45 PM. A staging area with light activities will be set up at the picnic tables under the awning behind the robot, while guests wait in the open field. This helps keep kids safe and allows normal playground activity to continue without disruption.

The city expects a strong turnout and has asked organizers to keep the event running smoothly. That is where volunteers come in.

Volunteer roles are simple and people-focused. Volunteers will help guide families from the parking lot, direct guests to staging and waiting areas, answer questions about why the robot is temporarily blocked for the photo, and share basic information about the new park coming soon. Volunteers may also help manage parking lot traffic right after the photo, offering guidance to reduce congestion.

No heavy lifting is involved. Just clear directions, helpful smiles, and a willingness to keep things moving safely.

About eight volunteers are needed. Anyone willing to help can comment on the event page or send a direct message to the organizers.
