If your Wednesday commute takes you along U.S. Highway 377, plan ahead.
According to information shared from a TxDOT road notice, both directions of U.S. 377 between Benbrook and Cresson will be temporarily closed on Wednesday, July 22, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The recommended detour is to travel north from Granbury on FM 51 to Weatherford, then take Interstate 20 East into Fort Worth. Drivers should expect the alternate route to add approximately 15 to 20 minutes to their trip.
The temporary closure will allow crews to perform critical utility relocations and bridge infrastructure work tied to the ongoing U.S. 377 Corridor Expansion project. Because the Whiskey Flats section is a narrow two-lane corridor with limited shoulder space, traffic must be fully stopped so heavy cranes and overhead utility equipment can operate safely.
If you’re traveling between Benbrook, Granbury, or Cresson during the closure, consider leaving early or choosing an alternate route to avoid delays.
