Texas has improved to No. 4 on WalletHub’s 2025 rankings of the “Best & Worst States to Start a Business,” up from No. 8 last year. The report evaluated all 50 states across 25 metrics, including startup rates, job growth, financing accessibility, and tax rates.
The Lone Star State excelled in “business environment,” ranking No. 1 nationally, thanks to strong five-year business survival rates and robust revenue growth. Texas also placed No. 12 in “access to resources” but lagged at No. 34 in “business costs,” indicating room for improvement in affordability and tax structures.
