Texas’ Emergency Preparation Supplies Sales Tax Holiday runs from April 25 through April 27, giving shoppers a chance to stock up on key items without paying sales tax.

The list covers a range of practical supplies. Portable generators under $3,000 qualify, along with items like emergency ladders and hurricane shutters under $300. Everyday essentials such as batteries, flashlights, radios, first-aid kits, fire extinguishers, and coolers priced under $75 are also included.

There is no limit on how many qualifying items you can buy, and the exemption applies whether you shop in-store or online, as long as the purchase is made during the three-day window.

Not everything makes the list. Items like cleaning supplies, gloves, camping gear, and vehicle batteries remain taxable, even during the holiday.
